Also this is awesome. They used to play a lot of these on TV if something ran long or short to fill in the space.

I remember seeing some of these on the old block "O Canada" on Cartoon Network.

I remember an episode featuring shapes at war who faught by yelling and having weird spinning words come out their mouths. In the end, they beat each other into different shapes.

I think it was triangles versus squares...

Since I've always lived so close to the Canadian border my sister and I saw alot of these as a kids, pre-cable. Does anyone remember the name of the cartoon series that had a little boy and a train and a little girl with star shaped hair? I think it was on CBC or the other station we used to get.. I think the station's slogan was "Q's got it"

Oh man, The Big Snit takes me back.

I'm an American (a Michigandar). This kind of thing played once in a great while on our fuzzy public television stations, but I got to see that one on the big screen at an an animation festival, and was impressed by its depth.

I heard tell that Canadian television was under obligation to devote two minutes out of sixty to Canadian culture. Brad, is this the case, or have I got it wrong?

Those completely ruled. I'm sure I saw some of those in the early 90s. Pity there were no Boards of Canada music videos.

Why they didn't include "Froggy Went A' Courtin" or the "The Log Driver's Waltz" is beyond me.

There was one about a mailman or a milkman that fell on an icy front step or something and died that I'd like to see again. I seem to recall there was flapping dong in it.

Skin. in canada, on tv and radio we have to have a certain percent of canadian content in a hour or a day. I can't remember which.

Jul 18th, 2006

I listen to HTZFM and they said they had to play 30% Canadian content to be within broadcasting regulations. Which is fine, because I dig a lot of Canadian music.

Does Shatner count as Canadian music?

Oh, wait. It doesn't count as music.

And I did get the answer to my cartoon question... "The Secret Railroad".
