The problem with both the Mars Bars and the Smarties is that they're different in England. As far as I can tell, this is an English site; in England, "Smarties" are something very much like our M&Ms. And their Mars Bar is our Snickers.
What are you talking about? This isn't an English site, we don't even have half of those chocolate bars in England
Smarties are similar to M&Ms (we have both) but smarties...actually I'm not sure if there is a difference besides the name
As for the snickers-mars bar statement, where did you get that idea? Our mars is the same as the American mars bar, same with snickers. The website got that one wrong, that's all
We have Smarties in Canada too, why the hell don't you have them there?
The lack of Smarties in America worries me, but does not surprise me, surprisingly enough.
Fun Fact: smarties.com belongs to the sweettarts kind
Fun Fact: the m&m smarties come in 8 colors:red, yellow, orange, green, mauve, pink, brown and blue
I don't know what mauve looks like either. Its probably another crazy thing the Brits have.
Fun Fact: when m&m smarties were continued after WWII, the centers contained plain chocolate because of the shortage of milk
Almonds are only called "almonds" when they are in the tree. After harvest, they are called "amonds." This is because to get them out of the tree, you have the shake the "l" out of them.
oh....awesome! it has AERO! when i went to england, i bought like 100 of those. why the hell doesn't america have them?? (well, actually, if u look hard enough, u can find em)
Quigle, sounds like the Aeros are just a great marketing ploy to me. Wish I could have gotten a piece of that. Basically, you're turning an ordinary mint candy into 1/3 or more air. Brilliance!
WHAT? It says M&M's are Smarties. WTF? Is this webpage from some weird country that M&M's have a dumb name?
Do american mars bars have big nuts in them!?
/\/\ I agree. Isn't that bar a snickers.
A truly delicious site! One of the best I've seen.

CRAZY

In england we have smarties and M&M's. and they did look like smarties, although m&m's are almost identical.
Actually, I think the Mars bar is accurate. Mars bars (though I thought they were discontinued) are similar to snickers, but have almonds.
If you click at the bottom for more candy bars, the snickers cross-section is there.

Oh, also, the site is from the Science Museum of Minnesota.
There are Smarties in the US, but nobody eats them. They come in a long, slender bag of clear plastic.
There are also the Smarties that are kinda like cheap SweetTarts.
I think the presidents of both companies need to fight to the death for the name.
The smarties in the long bags are great and aren't very similar to M&M's at all. I respect the pasion that this site has brought on.

Mars Bars dont have big almonds in them. Smarties and M&Ms are in the uk, owned by nestle and mars respectively - personally i prefer mnms...

Brit question : do Smarties still have the random letter on the reverse of the tube cap ? It's probably about 20 years since I bought any.
Aha! Karooble was on to something. This is a US site, and the people confused by the Mars bar are from Canada, England, or who knows where.
In the US, Mars bars have almonds.
This site clears it up:

Mmmhh ... almonds!
I've never had a Mars bar and I hate almonds.

I vote this the stupidest discussion on in4mador ever. You are all arguing about candy.

anywho, if anyone in the US happens upon this candy:

BE SURE TO BUY AS MUCH AS U CAN GET UR HANDS ON!
the mint kind is awesome. its basically a mint candy with air bubbles in it (making the texture really cool) covered in chocolate. its freakin great.
also, why doesnt the US have FLAKE?? That's another awesome candy bar!

GET BOTH OF THOSE - they rock!
furQ,
Brit answer: Yes, Smarties still have the letter under the cap.
And for the rest of you chocoaholics...

All I know is that Starburst in the US is better than Starburst in the UK.
