Adventure Game Studio
Adventure Game Studio (AGS for short) allows you to create your own point-and-click adventure games, similar to the early 90's Sierra and Lucasarts adventures. It consists of an easy-to-use development environment, and run-time engine.

I've been using this one for a while. It's actually pretty powerful, and good for more than basic point-and-click games.
Do try the Larry Vales games if you get the chance, they're pretty funny.
It was my childhood dream to make these sorts of games and now I would feel guilty doing it, like I was wasting my time somehow.
that "5 Days a Stranger (by Yahtzee)" game was pretty awsome.
Awesome aside from the fact that it's INSANELY DIFFICULT!
I suck at these games.
really? I beat it. At the end I cheated and used a help FAQ though, because I'm lame and wanted to start some homework.
I went there a couple years ago and tried to make a game. I didn't know how to fucking use it.
And may I suggest the Reality Of The Norm games?
Bah, I'm annoyed that I have to work and won't get to check this out until tomorrow. Looks great!
I've seen a few really cool things done with it - there's a nice little platformer engine, by the name Platformerius, and an example of a Curse of Monkey Island / Full Throttle -style interface. You know, the one that was after SCUMM and before iMUSE. With the... action... coin... thing.
Unfortunately, I completely forget where I found these.
I though iMUSE was the music system in SCUMM or do I have my acronyms all messed up again.
