Alright, I got creative with a microSD card and managed to work with some pictures and sounds. The pictures are working pretty well, got a nice background and all, but for some reason, the development guys who forged my phone didn't draw the conclusion that I might actually want to use something from my sound folder as a ringtone.

So if anyone has some sort of trickery that would get ringtones and videos to actually work, I would smile in your favor.

Ugh, phones are awful. I can't find much info on doing much with the Dare. Looks like they use a custom OS, so it's probably pretty well locked down. If it were to use Linux or a more hackable OS, I'd hold out some hope but otherwise there might not be much you can do.

I recently grabbed a new phone when my contract with Verizon expired, and picked up a nice, minimalist touch-screen phone that I would later learn is the new hot shit on the market, the Dare. It's a neat little device, a pretty standard iPhone contender that does everything I need it to and plenty I don't. Then comes the frustration...

I like to put junk on my phone from my computer, and was elated to know that my phone could directly uplink to my computer. But because Verizon just doesn't want it to be that easy, you have to use Rhapsody for music management. Lo and behold, once I square away the installation/registration process, I'm informed I've been subscribed to VCast, the ironic thing being I'm jumping through these hoops specifically because I did not want this service at all. Now it's all a mess, and I plan on going to the dealer and having a good long chat.

That being said, is there an easy way to get graphics, video and audio on my phone without this subscription bullshit?

Another update, just got Guitar Hero: On Tour for the DS, and it's pretty....standard. It's neat to have, but doesn't really feel like Guitar Hero. By plugging in a peripheral to your DS's cartridge slot, you get yourself four fret buttons and a configuration that assures either Carpal Tunnel Syndrome or a kink in the neck that may paralyze you. Strumming works with the touch screen, and while it's ok, sometimes you feel like the timing is off. Star power can be activated by the microphone, which means everytime you swipe your hand by it to strum (about 2 times a second) it'll go off. The track list is ok, but nothing new and exciting. And the lesser quality of the speakers will become apparent to you eventually, especially if you use the bullshit headphones that come with the game. Also, while the Guitar Grip peripheral is a cool concept, it is rather counterintuitive to keeping the screens steady while playing.

Give it a go if you can't go three days without busting out a solo on expert, otherwise, this is probably best looked over.

Alright, I said I'd be back when MGS4 came out, and here I be, having just finished it. I guess I'll just stick to form and do a lengthy pseudo review with witty remarks thrown in.

The gameplay is obviously different this time around, now that everything is full 3d, rotating camera and all. While this may make tradition gameplay less friendly and more cumbersome pain in the ass, there is leeway that will keep you in good hands most of the time. No more pressing up against walls to stick to them, now it's all in the Triangle button, but also gone is that bullshit camo system, so wax on, wax off.
The story, and all the head scratching it entails, is finally summed up in earnest, and while it isn't going to pry your skull open and take a shit on your cerebellum while laughing in your face a la MGS2, you'll probably have some questions. Still, the feeling of completion is enough to take you from "Kojima is a convoluted asshole" to "Kojima is a genius convoluted asshole." Also, long winded. Bring popcorn for the mission briefings, and no, that's not an exaggeration.
Some new bits include a massive weapon market system, allowing you to earn points and spend them on a plethora of killables, although few stand out as awesome (There's on Desert Eagle for every seven ho-hum M1911 knockoffs), a new button layout that doesn't require 14 fingers to use human shields, and the Multiplayer Component, which I haven't touched yet do to lack of ethernet cable. CQC is back courtesy of Snake Eater, and is much smoother, assuming you'll ever use it.
Oh, and the graphics, sound, voice acting, interface are all amazing, top o' the line, blah blah blah.

I do recommend it, if you have the time to invest in it (my first playthrough took about 26 hours), especially if you want some closure. Just don't make this your first foray into the franchise.

Okay, so "tagging" is in now. That means that multiple keywords can be applied to each link so you're not stuck having to choose just one category to put links in.

This should work fine going forward. But the problem is the previous 5,000 links have no tags (other than their categories). I've set it up so anyone with a high enough user level can apply keywords to links.

You should see a "tag this" link on the "posted by" line. Click that and enter your space separated tag list, for example "butts face game" and it'll save them.

I'll be trying to work my way through the links, but if you feel like doing some yourself that would be rad!

I also updated the "vote" link to be all ajaxy. So it doesn't reload the page when you vote now.

I think b and i are more general. The em and strong tags are supposed to only be used for emphasis and they don't necessarily have to italicize or bold per se.

Bujold: I just shrunk the text a bit, is that any better? I think the yellow background could be faded a bit more but I stole that from somewhere else and have no skills.

Bargaintuan: Is the "Vote" not obvious? Someone suggested I put an up arrow or something beside the word Vote. I'm not sure.

I'll have to see if I can hack b and i into bbPress here. em and strong are more standards compliant I guess.

By the way, what about making the same HTML codes work in links and the forum? Remembering where to use i and where to use em gets annoying.

I almost used b just now.

If you had to pick one, I'd pick b and i, but I don't see any real reason why you can't support both sets everywhere.

It's less obvious than the original "good/bad" links. There's a "This is bad" but no "This is good".
